Trucking publishing-executive Brad Bentley has been selected as the new president of the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA). He will succeed Chris Burruss, who resigned in June due to personal reasons.
The search committee, led by TCA Chairman Shepard Dunn, reviewed more than 100 applicants over the summer. After narrowing the candidates to a 鈥渟hort list鈥� and conducting interviews, Bentley鈥檚 name was presented to the Executive Committee. Bentley relocated from Alabama to the Washington, D.C. area and began working for TCA full-time in mid-October.
When Dunn notified the membership of the hire, he said, 鈥淏rad is a bright, creative, 鈥榬oll-up-your-sleeves and earn your stripes kind of guy鈥� who knows trucking鈥檚 issues, companies, and people. With his outstanding communication skills, there鈥檚 no doubt he will make a positive impact on TCA鈥檚 members, programs, and sponsorships. I feel confident he will be a natural fit with our organization.鈥�
A University of Alabama graduate with a degree in broadcast journalism, Bentley has worked in the trucking industry since 1988. He spent six years in driver recruitment advertising sales, followed by 15 years as a trucking publisher, before becoming the editorial director for Randall-Reilly, a recruiting agency, in 2008.
He has been active in TCA, most recently serving as co-chair of the Image and Communication Policy Committee. He is also a member of the Board of Directors as well as the Recruitment & Retention Human Resources Committee. Bentley has played a role in the behind-the-scenes development of several of TCA鈥檚 signature activities.
Bentley is also active on the Commercial Vehicle Training Association鈥檚 Marketing Committee and the American Trucking Associations鈥� Communications and Image Policy Committee.
