The hardships truck drivers face when their food options dwindle made headlines all over the country when restaurants and even rest stops closed their doors to slow the spread of COVID-19.
Taco Bell has also created a drive-thru experience for truck drivers. The fast food chain served free meals to drivers at their corporate headquarters.
Taco Bell recently announced their 鈥淭ruck-Thru at HQ鈥� events at corporate headquarters in Irvine, Calif. To serve the vehicles like semi-trucks that won鈥檛 fit through the traditional drive-thru lane.
Linden Massey, owner of Harold鈥檚 BBQ in Corning, Ark., also decided to provide meals to truck drivers at the intersection of Highways 62 and 67.
Before entering the restaurant business, Linden Massey drove an 18-wheeler for 38 years. 鈥淚 know what it鈥檚 like to be out there and not be able to get to a motel or get anything decent to eat,鈥� he said.
With the help of donations, Massey鈥檚 been able to provide sack lunches to over 700 drivers.
Even young people are finding ways to feed the drivers who keep moving. When 13-year-old Logan Miller heard that his father, a truck driver, went to bed hungry one night, he decided to help by raising money to provide lunches for drivers near his home in West Virginia.
Miller started with $100 to stuff brown bags with pepperoni rolls, beef jerky and fruit.
鈥淚 actually feel happiness,鈥� Logan said. 鈥淚 know they鈥檙e not going for at least eight hours without having a meal of some sort.鈥�
